Beware Deceptive Domain Renewal Letters

Over the past several weeks we have received multiple phone calls from our customers with questions regarding the renewal of their domain names. It seems that in many of these cases people are receiving what looks to be a legitimate letter from a company regarding the renewal of their domain. At first glance this letter looks like an invoice that simply needs to be entered into your system for payment; however, upon closer inspection it is much more than that.

These notifications are actually domain transfer requests, that if completed and paid for will allow another company to gain control of your domain name. In many cases these letters come from the “Domain Registration of America” or a similar name. The fine print states that by signing the invoice and remitting payment that you agree to transfer your domain name to their service and away from the Rhino Group.

If you receive one of these notifications DO NOT fill it out or submit payment. If you have any questions regarding the content of the letter please call or email and a member of our staff would be glad to help you. Your domain name is one of the most important items that you own as a business and making sure it is secure is our top priority.
